Clean energies, new technologies, and old conservation vs. development debates will again be among the environmental issues discussed in state capitols in 2020

Among issues state lawmakers will need to contend with in 2020 are what roles state agencies will assume following the revision of the Endangered Species Act and pending a re-write of the Obama-era Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.

But another trend is emerging. That of bipartisan support for ‘green’ economic development, with a handful of states adopting “Mini New Green Deals" in 2019.
