While legislative gridlock is likely to remain a feature on Capitol Hill, no such thing is expected in the states in 2021. As of right now, only one divided house remains in Minnesota, which means the usual pace of thousands of bills being introduced in an intense and shortened time frame looks set to continue.
Add to that the 5,000+ state legislature seats that were on the ballot this month, and you have a chaotic and potentially enormous spate of topics and agendas being pushed forward. But, there are some guidelines for what states have to concentrate on in these coming sessions with healthcare, budgets, and COVID relief being top of the pile.
That leaves a lot of opportunities and headaches at the state level for government relations teams.
