FiscalNote Announces Acquisition of Fireside
Acquisition expands FiscalNote’s presence deeper within the halls of the US Congress
WASHINGTON, DC – May 24, 2021 – FiscalNote, a leading technology provider of global policy and market intelligence, announces it has acquired Fireside, a Washington, DC-based provider of SaaS constituent management workflow tools to Capitol Hill.
“In the rapidly evolving tech ecosystem around government, Fireside is ahead of the curve in bringing technology and data to the key policymakers who write the laws that govern the 330 million people of the United States,” said FiscalNote founder and CEO Tim Hwang. “With industry-leading software utilized by hundreds of members of Congress and their staffs, Fireside is a perfect complement to FiscalNote's existing solutions, and will contribute immensely to helping us achieve our mission of better connecting people and organizations to government.”
Founded in 2001 by Josh Billigmeier and Jeff Mascott, Fireside has since developed a flagship constituent relationship management platform (CRM) known for amplifying constituent voices by emphasizing efficiency, enabling lawmakers to build stronger relationships with their constituents. The company’s years of experience with constituent communications enables them to not only offer solutions to Congress that solve today’s problems, but also drive continued innovation to communication and technology challenges lawmakers will face in the future.
“Relationships are at the core of both Fireside and legislative offices; we understand that different perspectives foster innovation in tech and on Capitol Hill,” noted Billigmeier, who was serving as Fireside’s CEO before the transaction. “We’re excited to join the FiscalNote family, and in doing so, leverage our technology to complement the comprehensive suite of data, workflow tools, and content that they already provide.”
As Fireside integrates into FiscalNote, Billigmeier will transition into Managing Director of Constituent Services, reporting to Krystal Putman-Garcia, FiscalNote’s Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager of Advocacy and Constituent Services.
“When we were evaluating Fireside, I was struck by the deep insight and focus the team had around the communication mechanisms of Congress and their focus on constantly improving lawmakers’ ability to communicate with constituents,” said Putman-Garcia. “Pairing our strong core competencies in data aggregation with Fireside’s constituent communications technology will enable us to drive more rapid innovation in this critical communications technology channel.”
This is the latest in a number of acquisitions announced by FiscalNote in 2021, as the company continues to strengthen and expand its suite of solutions designed to help organizations navigate the policy landscape. Earlier this year, FiscalNote acquired UK-based Oxford Analytica, a leading geopolitical intelligence and advisory company, as well as FactSquared, an AI-enabled data company specializing in analyzing and transcribing comments made by public figures. With a strong belief in pairing advanced technology with human-generated intelligence and insight, FiscalNote is leading the way in providing trusted solutions to help organizations manage their most important policy issues.
About Fireside
Fireside’s product suite amplifies constituent voices efficiently with tools built for the House of Representatives ecosystem. By integrating CRM, newsletter, and websites, Fireside brings the government to constituent living rooms—like FDR with his “Fireside Chats”—and makes sure data can be leveraged across all channels with ease. Rising mail volume between lawmakers and their constituencies means tools should keep evolving. Fireside strives to solve today’s and tomorrow’s problems through development and partnerships with fellow civic tech innovators.
