FAQs

Almost certainly. We track legislation and regulation across all 50 states, Congress, 100+ countries, and local government, filterable by topic so niche and emerging issues surface, not just the headline ones. The best way to be sure is to check your exact jurisdiction and issue: [book a demo] and see your own coverage before you decide.

PolicyNote data is pulled directly from official sources, including Congress.gov, the Federal Register, state legislative and regulatory sites, and official government sources worldwide. That means teams can trace policy activity back to the underlying record.

Our automated scrapers that collect data run continuously, scanning state and federal government websites for new and changed content. Because most government websites don't announce what has changed, our systems have to re-scan all available records on each pass to detect what's new. As soon as one scan cycle finishes, we wait approximately an hour and then start the next one — so collection is essentially non-stop.

Decades, depending on the data type. Federal legislative history goes back to the 99th Congress (1985), 40 years of searchable record. Floor votes reach back to 1991, committee coverage to the 101st Congress, and member profiles cover former members back to the 104th Congress. CQ's broader archive extends across 3.5M+ documents back to 1985 and earlier.
