How We Identify Similar Bills

Similar Bills is powered by our proprietary algorithm, which parses the full text of legislation and assesses its semantic similarity to other bills. The algorithm picks out relevant legislation, whether or not the sponsor, subject tag, or chamber formally relates to it.

This approach enables you to identify bills with overlapping policy intent, reuse of key phrases, or related structures that may otherwise be easily overlooked.
